Customer Rating: Summary: Chinsy but okay Comment: I bought this keyboard because mine broke and I needed a new one. I didn't have a lot of money, so I just got the cheapest one that I could find. It's not that great of a keyboard, but it gets the job done. It is fine for someone who just wants to practice at home, and is still trying to get the technique. As someone stated above, the keys are not touch-sensitive - whether you hit the key woth all your might or barely press it, the volume produced is the same.
For beginners, I guess this keyboard will be okay for a while. For people like me, it's just good enough for now, until I save up a bit for a better one.
Customer Rating: Summary: PLUG NOT INCLUDED Comment: The plug was not included with this product on Christmas morning. How cheap is that!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great for beginners... Comment: I had this keyboard for 3 weeks. It helped me learn and start to play the piano. It's a great item for the price. However if you're serious about learning how to play the piano... this keyboard is very limiting. I had to replace it after 3 weeks... but ya if you're just playing the piano as a hobby then it's great. It makes a great gift to your friends/family.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun - good sound quality Comment: Our family already owns a $2800 Yamaha Clavinova Piano with weighted touch sensitive keys and sustain pedals that both my children use for in-home piano lessons (A very nice system) but it is not portable. I needed a keyboard to take with us to the grand parents for a Christmas recital and sing along and I am very pleased with this one. My 9yr old Son enjoys the added "fun sounds" and the "Grand Piano" mode is very close to the Clavinova and makes this purchase worth every penny of the $69 + $15 adapter price I paid. (Michigan ABC Warehouse sale price)
The fact that it also has real MIDI IN/OUT is great.. If you have not yet connected a MIDI keyboard to a computer/laptop you are in for a treat..my 9yr old (usually)prefers goofing with MIDI programs to his other video games.
I almost purchased a slightly cheaper CASIO model (which included a Stand and Adapter for $99) but my experience with great Yamaha stereo sound quality led me to purchase this model instead. A good choice.
Customer Rating: Summary: Spoiler! Comment: We haven't opened this yet, so I can't give a technical review. Wanted to warn others that this ships in it's original box! I bought this as a Christmas present for my son, and it was waiting on our doorstep yesterday when he got home from school, so the surprise was ruined.
99.9% of everything I've ever ordered from Amazon comes in an Amazon shipping box. I order cases of food, and they even come inside another Amazon box. No such luck here.
I'm very dissapointed, and considering returning it just for this reason.

The YPT-210 features 375 natural sounding voices, including Stereo Grand Piano, 361 XGlite voices, 12 drum kits and a sound effect kit. The YPT-210 also has 100 accompaniment styles and 102 built-in songs. Use the Portable Grand button to instantly call up an authentic stereo grand piano sound. The instrument also has a rich Reverb effect that adds concert-hall ambience to any performance. The Yamaha Education Suite (YES) feature makes learning and practicing music more fun than ever before. Some keyboards have two speakers but aren't stereo. Don't be fooled. Just because a keyboard has two speakers doesn't mean that it's truly stereo with two separate amplifiers. All Yamaha Portable Keyboards feature stereo-sampling technology. It has 32 notes of polyphony and will play back 16 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi timbrel); enough for the most demanding needs. The music pathway to your computer and the Internet is MIDI. It's the way that keyboards communicate with computers. And because the YPT-210 is both General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatible, you have access to thousands of MIDI song files on the Internet. It's the way to begin and play a musical instrument and a grand way to learn piano without occupying lots of space. Jack for optional Sustain pedal Auto Accompaniment features MIDI in/out Jack for optional headphone Dimensions - Width 37-1/4 x Depth 13-2/3 x Height 4-1/3 (945mm x 348mm x 110mm) Weight - 9 pounds, 11 ounces
